Shelf Road Recreation Area, located north of Canon City, is a world-renowned sport climbing destination. The area features hundreds of climbing routes across multiple crags, ranging from beginner-friendly to expert-level challenges. The limestone cliffs offer excellent holds and beautiful desert scenery. Beyond climbing, the area is popular for hiking, mountain biking, and camping. The BLM-managed area has developed campgrounds and facilities.
