White Water Bar & Grill

The legendary post-rafting hangout where adventurers gather for Colorado's best BBQ brisket, half-pound burgers, cold beer, live music, and Arkansas River stories.

White Water Bar & Grill is less a restaurant than a rite of passage. Voted the Best Bar & Grill in Canon City for 10 years running, this has been THE spot where rafters stumble in still dripping from their river adventures, where guides unwind after a long day on the water, where the stories get a little taller with each round of beers. The rustic western-style atmosphere is unapologetically casual. Worn wooden tables bear the carved initials of countless visitors. The walls are covered with photos of epic river moments, faded newspaper clippings about the Arkansas, and the occasional piece of equipment retired from active service. In summer, the shaded outdoor patio fills with the happy chaos of people fresh off the river, still buzzing with adrenaline, backdropped by gorgeous mountain views. Beyond great food and drinks, White Water has become a destination for live entertainment. The venue hosts live bands on weekends throughout the summer season, featuring local and regional acts playing rock, blues, and country. The outdoor setting with string lights overhead creates the perfect atmosphere for summer concerts under the Colorado sky. The extensive outdoor area is an attraction in itself. Sand volleyball courts host friendly competitions while others enjoy horseshoes, cornhole, and ax throwing. There's a kids' playground for families, fire pits for cooler evenings, and cabana seating for those who want to relax in style. Karaoke nights add to the fun, letting visitors show off their singing skills. The food is hearty and unpretentious—exactly what you want after physical adventure. BBQ is the specialty here, with slow-smoked brisket that's earned a reputation as some of the best in Colorado. The BBQ brisket sandwich features chopped, sauced brisket on a toasted hoagie bun. All burgers use half-pound patties of all-natural, non-GMO Colorado beef from Elizabeth, Colorado. The Triple Decker burger stacks thick bacon, American cheese, pulled pork, and coleslaw on top. Wings come in BBQ, hot, sweet chili sriracha, or naked. Appetizer platters are sized for sharing among hungry paddlers. The beer selection features Colorado drafts served cold and refreshing. Margaritas are legendary and reasonably priced. Note: The restaurant is seasonal, typically closing in late fall and reopening in spring when rafting season returns. Check their website or call ahead if visiting during shoulder seasons. Live music events are posted on their website and social media.
